CROCK POT BEEF STEW

It is nearing the winter months, which means if you live in a country that has wintry weather then this recipe is for you. During this time of year, I like to whip out my Crock pot to make Stews, Chili, or Soups, these recipes is what I call Heartwarming meals. When my mom would make meals like this, eating them made me feel warm and cozy, you could taste the Love, as my family use to say, what did she do Hug the Pot? My Mom always said that the secret ingredient was Love, she would always say, if you love cooking, it will come through in your food.


Cooking in a crock pot is a slow method, and the outcome is a delicious meal. There’s a lot to be said when you cook something low and slow. And cooking meats like beef stew where Chuck or Sirloin is used, a slow technique works best.


In my recipe I Used Better than Bouillon Beef Flavor Base and mixed it with water which made the Beef Broth for my stew. I also used McCormick Beef Stew Seasoning mix, believe me using both ingredients provide an unbelievable Beef Gravy to the stew. You will not have to use a thickener if you follow this recipe, dredging the meat in flour and browning it before adding it to the crock pot and mixing it with the broth will make an amazing gravy for this stew. CROCK POT BEEF STEW



INGREDIENTS


2-3 Pounds of Beef Stew Meat/Sirloin or Chuck (Cut in Cubes)

Seasoning Salt & Pepper to taste to coat meat

1/2 to 1 cup of flour to coat Beef Stew Meat

3 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil to Brown Beef Stew Meat

3 Cups of Water

3 Tablespoons of Better Than Bouillon Beef Flavor – Add to the 3 cups water

2 Packs of Beef Stew Seasoning Mix

1 Cup of Water

5 Idaho Potatoes (peeled and cut-up in cubes or pieces)

3 Stalks of Celery (Stringed and cut-up in small pieces)

1 Medium Red Onion

1 Tablespoon of Minced Garlic or 2 fresh garlic cloves

1 Pound Mixed Vegetables

Add more Black Pepper to taste

1/2 Stick of Butter


DIRECTIONS


Preheat Crockpot on High. Cut, Rinse and Season Beef Stew Meat with Seasoning Salt and Pepper. Completely coat Beef Stew Meat with flour. To skillet, add 3 tablespoons of Vegetable Oil, when hot add Beef Stew Meat and lightly brown on all sides.


Transfer meat to preheated Crockpot. Mix the 3 tablespoons of Better than Bouillon Beef flavor with the 3 cups of water, then pour over meat. Add the 2 packs of Beef Stew Seasoning mix to crock pot, then add 1 cup of water, cover, and let cook for 90 minutes on High. After 90 minutes add potatoes, celery, onions, minced garlic, and mixed vegetables, season with more Black Pepper to taste than cover and let cook for 1 hour.


Than add butter and cover and let cook for 2 more hours. After that the Beef Stew should be done, the total Crockpot cooking time was 4 ½ hours. It depends on the slow cooker, after adding all ingredients, cook until desired doneness of meat and potatoes since they take the longer to cook. Enjoy!
