If you are craving a cheeseburger then give this recipe a try, after all who doesn’t like a nice juicy cheeseburger? A Juicy Lucy is simply a cheeseburger with the cheese on the inside of the burger instead of on top, resulting in a nice gooey splash of cheese once you take a bite.
In this recipe I added one slice of American Cheese and one slice of Cheddar Cheese to each burger, dividing each slice into 4 sections and stacking them on the bottom burger, then placing another burger on top and sealing the edges so the cheese would stay inside doing cooking. What is great about this recipe, you can dress them up with the condiments of your choice, just like you would any other burger. I prepared Lettuce, Sliced Tomatoes, and Onions, and had the Mustard, Ketchup and Pickles on hand so you can fix them the way you want them.
I made Juicy Lucy’s for the 4th of July and my guest loved them. I prepared a lot of food for the 4th of July and the Juicy Lucy’s were a great addiction to the menu. Everyone was talking about how good and juicy they were, and the next day I heated one for myself and it was still moist on the inside and the cheese ran out when I took a bite, I am incredibly pleased with myself at how amazing the burger taste on the second day. My family informed me that this is how they want their cheeseburgers prepared from now on.
Adding the Liquid Smoke paired with the Worcestershire Sauce allows you to enjoy the outdoor taste even when they are pan fried or grilled. I recommend using 80/20 percent ground beef instead of 90/10. The 80/20 percent has more fat allowing for a Juicier Burger. I’m going to leave it right here, there is not much else I can say about the Juicy Lucy’s but, try them for yourself. Enjoy!
2 POUNDS OF GROUND BEEF 80/20
1 TEASPOON SALT
1 TEASPOON OF BLACK PEPPER
1 TEASPOON OF ONION POWDER
1 TEASPOON OF GARLIC POWDER
2 TABLESPOONS OF WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
2 TEASPOONS OF LIQUID SMOKE
8 SLICES OF AMERICAN CHEESE
8 SLICES OF CHEDDER CHEESE
In a Large bowl combine all the above ingredients, except for the American and Cheddar cheese. MIX WELL.
Pat out 10 medium burgers and flatten too medium thin. Add 1 slice of American and 1 slice of cheddar cheese, on top of 5 burgers. (Divide each slice of cheese in 4 sections).
Place the other 5 burgers on top of the burgers with cheese and pinch around the sides of each burger to seal in the cheese. Pan fry or Grill on each side for about 5 minutes, flip burgers and cook another 5 minutes until desired doneness. Dress your Juicy Lucy’s up and serve with your favorite condiments. Enjoy!
