STUFFED BELL PEPPERS

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

Stuffed Bell Peppers is a dish that my mom has always prepared for us, when we were kids and after we were grown, you could go over her house on any given Sunday and smell the aroma of Stuffed Peppers all through her house. I would say that her love for this dish comes from growing up on a farm where they grew their own vegetables, so she learned how to make various recipes out of the vegetable they grown. There are many ways to prepare Stuffed Peppers, some cooks blanched the peppers before cooking them and others will cook them raw, and that is the way my mom taught me to do them.

She would cut the Bell peppers in half and prepare her stuffing, then she would pour a cup of water down the side of the dish and cover them and bake them, while baking the water will steam the peppers resulting in a nice tender well-cooked pepper. But either way the peppers will turn out delicious.

When preparing the stuffing, I use to add all the seasoning and cooked rice the put the filling in the peppers but, when I would do it this way, I would have to drain off some of the oil from the ground meat during the cooking process. So, I decided to prepare my peppers using the partially cooked ground meat method that I show in my video, and the peppers turned out amazing, they were moist and flavorful and not dry or oily.

So, I love doing them the way I showed in the video, because the peppers cooked up perfectly and kept that wonderful pepper flavor. And if you noticed, I did not put any cut up peppers in the filling, preparing them this way it is not needed, most people use this method because they cut the peppers across the top leaving them whole and doing them this way, there will be some bell peppers pieces left over and instead of throwing them away, they cut them up and combine them in the filling. You are going to like preparing the peppers the way I did in my video, if you follow my method then your peppers will turn out amazing also. Enjoy!
